Hey Guys, lots of you were away for various things this week (awards night and such). So here's what you missed!
1) Introduction - Favourite thing about fall.
2) Purple Pinky Project:
- Tentative dates were chosen: April 9th for all elementary schools
- April 9, 10, 11 for all high schools (over lunch hour) - Remember these dates are only tentative as we still need board
approval!
3) Interact Leadership Camp - A one day camp is going to be put on on March 27th for grades 8-10
- A location still needs to be determined for this event
- There will most likely be a free BBQ around Victoriaville for the afternoon, so somewhere in that vicinity would be nice - We also still need board approval for this event and parental consent forms to miss a day of school
4) New Ideas!
- The idea of a Shoe Drive for people in Nicaragua came up
- This event would involve Roteract and Interact
- The goal is to collect 8000 pairs of shoes to send to Nicaragua to protect against bacterial diseases
- There is also the possibility of a Roteract/Interact food drive this spring
5) Important Dates!
- Oct 27th: Roteract Sandbags!
- Sandbags will be filled on this day, lets all show up to help out Roteract who will be giving us $500 dollars (which we need!)
- Nov 5th: Interact will be going to the shelter house on George St. to prepare and serve dinner
- this takes place from about 5:30 - 9:00
- we will be going to this event with Jill's Rotary Club
- Nov 16th & 17th: Rotary Exchange Weekend - All the exchange students from the district will be coming to Thunder Bay for the weekend!
- Interact will do something fun with them on Friday night (bowling?)
and then Saturday is the parade and party at Vanderwees
- Book this weekend off work!! It's going to be a lot of fun!
- Bring $20 to the next meeting! (10 for dues, 10 for your ticket to
vanderwees party)
- The next meeting will be held on 30th at 7pm at LU! Bring new members, and remember we are still looking for a secretary!
